I was a founding Board member and served on the initial planning committee to organize our Shepherd’s Center. As a local resident for nearly 34 years I see first-hand the meaningful role SCOV plays in the Oakton-Vienna community. I hope and pray that we can keep it vigorous and growing for the many current participants as well as future or potential participants. |

I began as a volunteer driver and then taught a class on the Middle East for Adventures in Learning. Since joining the Board in 2003 I've been involved in helping other Centers in the area get started -- my goal is to ring the beltway with Shepherd's Centers. I'm a retired Foreign Service Officer who specialized in the Middle East. The best part of being involved with SCOV is working with such wonderful people -- volunteers, clients and staff. Come join us! |

After a lifetime of travels, I settled in Northern Virginia in 1996. I learned of the Shepherd's Center through attending Adventures in Learning (AIL) classes. I soon became an office volunteer, and a member of the AIL planning committee. From there it was a short step to the Board of Directors where I have served as Secretary since 2005. I have found the Shepherd's Center to be a wonderful avenue toward volunteering, learning and socializing. |

I became a member of the Board in 2008 and also volunteer for the Shepherd's Center as a medical driver, run a small real estate investment business and write childrens books in my spare time. A resident of Vienna for over 15 years, I previously was an IT Executive for over 30 years and retired from Fannie Mae in 2005. |

A member of the Board since 2008, I am also an active leader in the Vienna Rotary Club, Carriage Hill Civic Association and Church of the Holy Comforter. My first career as an executive with Bell Atlantic in Corporate Relations, Marketing and Customer Service was followed by consulting positions in Business Development and Special Promotions in the IT sector. A resident of Vienna for 30 years, my wife Mimi and I enjoy travel and spending time with the families of our three children, which includes eight grandchildren. |

My wife and I were at the initial meeting of representatives from local churches to begin the mission of the Shepherd’s Center. My responsibility has been to work with representatives from the congregations in the Oakton-Vienna area. What I enjoy most about the Shepherd’s Center is wherever I go in Oakton-Vienna, I always meet someone from the Shepherd’s Center. I am a native of Baltimore, MD, served in the United States Navy, and have a degree in Industrial Engineering from IIT in Chicago, IL. I worked in paper converting industries for 20 years, and was 23 years with the United States Government, starting with the Government Printing Office and retiring from the United States Treasury Financial Management Services. |

As a member of the Board and the Health Council, the Shepherd’s Center has been an important part of my life since it’s beginning. My younger years were spent in Kansas. My first degree was in Home Economics and Nursing, having attended Cottey College, Kansas State University and Kansas University Medical Center. In addition, I have a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Missouri in Kansas City and an Ed.D. in Adult Education from Virginia Tech. I started in obstetrics and gynecology, followed by surgical nursing, school nursing, teaching in both two-year and collegiate settings, public health nursing, various administrative positions at the American Nurses Association, and my last 18 years were spent at the national headquarters of the American Red Cross in Nursing and Health and Management Development and Training. |

I have been involved with the Shepherd's Center since its inception. Through it I have found friends and have learned things that I wouldn't have otherwise. I love to read and work part-time as a librarian at the Patrick Henry Library in Vienna. |

I came onto the Board in 2006 after serving six years in the volunteer ranks of SCOV, involved with providing a range of services: Beginner Computer Class Instructor, Personal Book Keeping and Handyman chores. This direct one-on-one involvement with the elderly throughout our community has been one of the most rewarding volunteer ‘career’ decisions I have ever made. I am a native of Bethesda, MD and attended Woodrow Wilson HS in DC. This college preparation was followed by degrees from Cornell, Johns Hopkins and Trinity College, Hartford CT night school. I served 7 years as a week-end warrior pilot in DC and CT ANG fighter interceptor squadrons. This was followed by a professional civilian career beginning with 19 years as a Development Engineering Flight Test Pilot with American Airlines and 9 years as an Airline Technology Consultant/Contractor here in NoVA - for NASA and the FAA. Serious hobbies include: photography, herb gardening and stick model airplane building. |

In 1996 Donna Grim, who was a member of the church I was pastoring at the time, came into my office with some materials she had received about starting a Shepherd's Center. I looked over the information and told her that it was just what we had been looking for. We discussed how to get started and set up a meeting with the clergy in the Oakton-Vienna-Dunn Loring area. Thirteen of them showed up; and as the say, "the rest is history." I have served on the Board since its inception and it has been a great joy to see it grow to its present state. |
