Chronic Disease Self-Management Program at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax (UUCF) 2709 Hunter Mill Rd, Oakton; Program Building, classroom #5. If you are an older adult with chronic health problems such as arthritis, diabetes, lupus, thyroid disease, osteoporosis and heart disease, we invite you to participate in a program to encourage healthy living. This free workshop series will help you take control of your medical care and improve your ability to handle the frustration, fatigue and feelings of hopelessness that often accompany life with a chronic illness. Presented by the Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna and sponsored by Fairfax County Adult and Aging Services.
Workshops meet for 2 hours, once a week, for six weeks.  Caregivers of individuals with chronic conditions are also invited to attend. Registration required: call SCOV office at 703-281-0538.  Click for additional info (pdf format).  Click for directions to UUCF.

Lunch N’ Life at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 2589 Chain Bridge Rd, Vienna, VA 22181.  Click for directions.  John (Jack) Calhoun, internationally acclaimed speaker and author of Hope Matters: The Untold Story of How Faith Works in America, will discuss his book. Extracting common theological themes from a variety of traditions--Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and American Indian, Mr. Calhoun tells the faith story not often heard, a story embodied in the lives of people whose faith reconciles, not divides; alleviates pain, not causes it; serves, not dominates.
